The first thing that you may notice when approaching builders or already built homes is that most of the things that you would consider absolutely normal and standard are in fact extra . Knob and tube wiring simply gets its name from the way it’s installed. There are ceramic tubes for the cloth covered wires that run through the wood framing of the house and the knobs are used when the wires run alongside or next to the wood framing. The two wires (there is no ground wire) are separated approximately four inches apart. One wire is the black “hot” wire, and the other wire is the white “neutral” wire (most knob and tube wires do not have different color insulation jackets that we see in todays wiring). All the connections for knob and tube wiring are open and visible. The wires are simply spliced and soldered together with older style fibrous electrical tape around the splices. If this electrical tape is not cloth covered, consider it an unprofessional splice. These shiny taped splices need to be upgraded to include a junction box.

Rewiring an old guitar using the stock wiring diagram can be very frustrating. Wiring diagrams, whether stock or for a custom upgrade are mostly hard to find, and in many cases hard to comprehend, thus making them unlikely to work well. Refrain from just buying any old kit primarily to prevent damaging other components of your guitar. Some guitars have active circuitry, and a bad wire setup can damage it.

Every diagram and part we list is fully tested many times to insure you get the vibe you want. Simply put, if we recommend it, it will work as suggested and not damage your instrument. Realistically speaking, many people have their own personal wiring setups and parts they may use or interchange that GuitarPlayersCenter only feels comfy dealing in proven setups. In fact one of my personal fav’s is a setup that includes an EMG-SPC control knob being installed in a Stratocaster. What a great switch, at least in my opinion. I like to toss in a set of Fender Custom Texas Special pickups while I’m under the pickguard. Texas Special pickups will give you the Stevie Ray Vaughan sound. Very delectable!

Most guitar stores are competitive in price and service. Most of them have great return policies in case you don’t care for your new tone. However GPC uses Guitar Center or Musicians Friend for those reasons and more.

Don’t make a mistake, if you are not inclined to doing these upgrades, then take it to a competent luthier/guitar maker. This is precision work to an extent, and not messing up your guitar is a priority. Although, it is doable by most people if you relax, be patient and most important, follow the directions!

Remember to use a solder gun with a replaceable tip,use a top line electrical solder and flux and don’t get the switches too hot. Remember that soldering is an art of sorts, so practice first on some extra wires to get your vibe back if it has been a while since you last soldered.

Let’s face it, some of us women are completely useless in the world of DIY and all things electrical. However, in my recent encounters I have discovered that many men are useless in the world of electrical installations and even picking out wiring accessories. These are things that we women, when we were young girls, were taught to believe that men are innately good at. Fortunately, one does learn over the years that this is something that requires plenty of training and studying.

During my recent encounters with all things DIY in my new flat, I found that everything electrical needs a simple routine check every now and again, including simple plug socket replacements and knowing how to change a fuse. For the more nitty-gritty jobs such as wiring a device or even a dolls house, this requires much more than simply putting together and connecting the right wires to light up the right bulbs in the right rooms.

For starters, you will need to know which of the wiring accessories you need to have them function in the right way. It is not a good idea to get stuck into any electrical wiring or any sort yourself, if you have no prior experience, as you do not want to end up electrocuting yourself or causing any undue harm to others around you. If you cannot afford a qualified electrician then you should do your research and read up on all of the electrical parts before going ahead and doing the job yourself.

You should always opt towards using tried and tested products rather than using ones that do not have the manufacturer’s certification. You need to be sure that the product is going to be safe to use and safe to install. Make sure you have someone at hand to help you, by asking someone you know who has experience in dealing with electrical installations. This way you will not have to pay out the extra expense for a professional electrician.

If you are wiring up a plug or replacing a fuse in your plug then all you will need to do is look up how to wire a plug on the internet and that is all. This takes no more than five minutes to do and you will find all sorts of wiring accessories information and techniques online. With this in mind, you will also find information for more advanced level wiring with step-by-step video tutorials. This cannot be stressed any more than it already has been and that is you should always read up on everything before doing the job yourself.

Electrical domestic wiring in new build homes has progressed further since the days of waiting weeks for the electrician to complete the rewiring task. The demand for everything delivered to the door in next to no time has increased, making it near impossible to get everything done on time. However, our modern times have made it possible to deliver the goods quick smart and changing the way in which the electrical wiring is installed into the house.

A single buildings wiring and lighting system can now be delivered via a back of a truck, rather than having to wait for a period to have the products sent to your doorstep. Ready made parts for new build homes are made from factories, with the complete package being delivered in the back of a truck, rather than waiting for different parts to turn up. However, you cannot have just anyone to install the domestic wiring for you; the person doing this must be an experienced and qualified electrician. Because when it comes to selling the house, anyone who has completed the wiring themselves must provide certifiable proof that they are eligible to complete this.

New legislations have tightened up on the electrical installation of any new homes. These include stopping any plug sockets or wall mounted switched being installed near the bath – hence this is why you may see bathrooms with switches on the outside. Some light switched that are fixed in the bathroom, tend to be water proof and situated nearer the door rather than above or near the bath or shower.

However, there is much work to be done on protecting the kitchen area if there is a leak or flood coming from the bathroom. Kitchens are directly below the bathroom, and the electrical wiring in between, are generally not water resistant or protected. Some houses, especially new ones tend to have residual current device (RCD) to protect the circuit between the bathroom and kitchen. In the event of a flood, the kitchen would be well protected by keeping the piping separate from the wiring.

In the event of a large flood in the area, this will normally affect the whole house and cause much damage to the structure, furniture and everything within the bottom half of one’s home. This is a devastating effect for the homeowners, as this will mean that much of their belongings have been destroyed and there maybe some permanent damage to the building.

Those who have been victims of a flood, may face electrical damage to the domestic wiring, light fittings and plug sockets. Sometimes you will notice a smell of burning but no visible fires, in this instance the main electrical supply should be shut off immediately. This however, should not be done if you are wet or are in water. Unless you are completely dry there is no point in putting yourself at risk. Never connect a generator to the main circuit, this is an illegal move and will certainly cause a fire, especially after a flood.

New homes have regular testing completed on them as a way of keeping everything safe and preventing any unexpected fires from occurring. These are also protected with water resistant covering and circuitry, so in the event of a flooding in or out of the house, this will reduce the chances of the fuse to blow out.
